New Led Zep Releases in November: Mothership & The Song Remains the Same

On November 13th, a new two-cd 24-track "best of" entitled Mothership will be released, with songs selected by Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones. The long awaited remastered edition of the Song Remains the Same follows and features bonus material.

"We have revisited 'The Song Remains The Same'," says Jimmy Page, "and can now offer the complete set as played at Madison Square Garden. This differs substantially from the original soundtrack released in 1976, and highlights the technical prowess of Kevin Shirley, who worked with us on 'How The West Was Won'. When it comes to 'The Song Remains The Same', the expansion of the DVD and soundtrack are as good as it gets on the Led Zeppelin wish list."

Star Page witness in Bootleg Case

07.26.07] Jimmy Page has been giving evidence in an alleged bootleg music case at Glasgow Sheriff Court. Robert Langley, from Buckinghamshire, has denied 12 charges of trying to sell bootleg material in the city in 2005.

Former Led Zeppelin lead guitarist Page, 63, was shown hundreds of CDs and DVDs containing the band's material. The star told the ongoing court case that the discs had never been authorised for manufacture, distribution or sale. Mr Langley has been accused of trying to sell the material at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow.

Building a Zep Stairway to Rock 'N Roll Heaven

Led Zeppelin Builds a "Stairway" in Rock & Roll Heaven

Hard Rock Park Tops Signature Coaster at Heights Requiring Clearance by the FAA

Myrtle Beach, SC/July 13, 2007/FPSnewswire/-- Exactly one year after breaking ground on the world's first rock 'n' roll theme park, Hard Rock Park celebrates another milestone today, with the official topping ceremony for the Park's most anticipated attraction, Led Zeppelin - The Ride. The topping ceremony, which marks the completion of the highest lift hill for the signature roller coaster, kicks the Park into "construction overdrive."

"This coaster is so high; I'm sure we're waking up a few pilots," jokes Steven Goodwin, Hard Rock Park CEO. "I swear I've seen a couple of planes take notice already, not to mention the drivers on Rt. 501. We're at the point of development where everyone will be amazed with what will spring up next."

Easily viewed as far away as the three highway bridges that surround the Park, Led Zeppelin - The Ride will tower more than 150 feet into the sky (15 stories tall), serving as a landmark that will help travelers pinpoint Hard Rock Park whether arriving by air or land. The ride is most notable for the iconic relationship with band members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones, who have contributed to all aspects of Led Zeppelin - The Ride, including the ride's name, logo and overall look and feel of the vehicles.

"A lot of planning and communication with the FAA has gone into this project," said David Reitterer, project manager for Hard Rock Park. "We are building this coaster just as high as they would allow, given the Park's proximity to Myrtle Beach International Airport."

Located in the Park's Rock & Roll Heaven zone, the signature steel roller coaster will thrill riders with a six and a half minute experience, partially over water. Reaching speeds of 65 mph, the coaster will boast six breathtaking inversions, the largest of which will be a 120-foot loop. Every moment of the ride, including thrilling drops and loops, is timed to Led Zeppelin's hit single "Whole Lotta Love," creating an unprecedented sensory experience and an adrenaline rush rivaled only by a live Led Zeppelin concert.

The experience will begin in a huge silver airship, which is designed to make guests feel as if they are stepping onto the cover of Led Zeppelin's debut album. Once inside, band-related murals and props will adorn the walls, while music and videos play throughout the queue, leading to a "studio" area where guests will be treated to a moving, multimedia show before climbing aboard the coaster. As the ride begins its initial ascent, excitement will build in time with "Whole Lotta Love," which is pumped into each car, thanks to a high-fidelity on-board audio system.

This summer, visitors to Myrtle Beach can get a sneak peek of Led Zeppelin - The Ride, as well as many more rides and attractions at the Hard Rock Park Backstage Tour, the Park's official preview center. The Backstage Tour is open daily to the public, free of charge, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Hard Rock Park will be an approximately 140-acre theme park boasting more than 40 attractions for rockers of all ages, including roller coasters, shows, children's play areas, restaurants, cafes and retail stores, a multi-purpose live music amphitheatre, and ultra-modern sound system specifically developed for the project, creating a totally immersive full-day experience.

NY Memorial for Ahmet Ertegun Today

(April 17) Some of the biggest names in rock music, including Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins and the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, will attend a private memorial in New York on Tuesday for their late boss, Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

Clapton, Collins and Stevie Nicks are among the scheduled performers, an Atlantic spokeswoman said. The event, organized by Ertegun's widow Mica, will take place at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Jagger is one of the speakers. Bette Midler will host.

Ertegun died last December aged 83, after suffering a brain injury when he fell backstage at a Rolling Stones show in October. The Turkish immigrant co-founded Atlantic in 1947, and brought the blues, jazz and R&B of his adopted country to the masses. The label's rock roster was equally impressive.

On May 11, 1974, Led Zeppelin attended Elvis Presley's evening concert at the Los Angeles Forum. After a shakey start on "Funny How Time Slips Away", Elvis stopped the song and jokingly said: "Wait a minute... If we can start together fellas, because we've got Led Zeppelin out there... let's try to look like we know what we're doing, whether we do or not".
His father, John Bonham, the legendary drummer for Led Zeppelin, had just died a few years before and Jason had grown up with music. Before the age of 10, he had appeared in a film on his father's band, The Song Remains the Same.
Plant's Honeydrippers not headed to the studio, but will play a show

The death of Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun in December put the kabosh on a new Honeydrippers album Robert Plant planned to record this year.

Plant tells Billboard.com that he and Ertegun began talking about the project -- a follow-up to the platinum 1984 EP "Volume One," which featured Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Nile Rodgers, among others -- after Plant was part of a tribute to Ertegun last June at the 40th Annual Montreux Jazz Festival.

"We agreed to carry on and create a Honeydrippers thing a little bit later on in 2007," says Plant. "He was suggesting material and stuff like that. I knew he was thrilled with the idea of it, and so was I."
